The 8th International Capacity Building Program, organized under the leadership of the International Federation of Green Crescent (IFGC) and hosted by the Turkish Green Crescent Society, successfully brought together civil society leaders and public health experts from around the world. Held between April 30 and May 2, 2025, at the Green Crescent Headquarters in Istanbul, the program welcomed 120 participants from 60 countries.
Over the course of three days, participants engaged in 12 workshops led by field experts and benefited from insights shared by 42 distinguished speakers, including representatives from National Green Crescents. Key topics included capacity development, project design, destigmatization in treatment and recovery, and international advocacy—offering a rich platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration in the field of addiction prevention. The program also coincided with the 5th General Assembly of the International Green Crescent Federation, adding further significance and momentum to the gathering.
The program was honored by the presence of the President of the Republic of Türkiye, H.E. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, during the IFGC Forum held at the Atatürk Cultural Center on May 2. This high-level participation crowned the event and emphasized Türkiye’s strong commitment to global public health.
In addition, representatives from Country Green Crescents delivered speeches expressing their goodwill and commitment to addiction prevention. Shuhaida Adam from Green Crescent South Africa, Mousa Daoud from The Jordan Anti Drugs Society, Daniel Da Silva from Conectados Pela Vida, Kazım Ateş from Green Crescent Australia, and Patimoh Nimah from Thai Green Crescent all took the stage at the IFGC Forum to share their messages of solidarity and dedication.
