The Green Crescent Addiction Prevention Training Program (TBM), held online on 4–5 October 2025, has successfully certified 80 new practitioners from 27 countries. Co-organized by the International Federation of Green Crescent (IFGC) and the Turkish Green Crescent Society (Türkiye Yeşilay Cemiyeti), the program marked another milestone in global prevention efforts by bringing together Country Green Crescent representatives and professionals committed to strengthening addiction prevention worldwide.
The program brought together Country Green Crescent representatives and professionals from the fields of psychology, psychiatry, healthcare, and education, who received comprehensive train-the-trainer education in the field of addiction prevention. This capacity-building program represents an important step forward in strengthening professional competencies in prevention, enabling participants to implement evidence-based, curriculum-driven, and more structured approaches in their local addiction-related efforts.
The Green Crescent Addiction Prevention Training Program (TBM) is a scientifically grounded primary prevention initiative developed by the Green Crescent in 2014. Designed to raise awareness on technology, gambling, tobacco, alcohol, and substance addictions, as well as to promote healthy living, TBM equips volunteer trainers and professionals with evidence-based tools to educate their communities. Through its modular structure tailored to different age groups—from preschool to adulthood—the program aims to build societal resilience against addictive behaviors, particularly among children and youth, while fostering a culture of prevention and wellbeing worldwide.
Throughout the two-day program, participants received intensive expert training on addiction prevention while actively engaging in presentations and interactive sessions. This hands-on approach enabled them to deepen their understanding of adult training modules and strengthen their practical skills in delivering prevention-focused education within their own communities. Through these sessions, participants not only enhanced their theoretical understanding of addiction prevention but also developed practical skills in adult training and effective communication.
Upon completing all sessions and successfully passing the final assessment, participants has been certified as TBM Practitioners, authorized to implement the Green Crescent Addiction Prevention Program locally and deliver its content within their own countries.
This edition of the TBM training further expanded the global reach of the Green Crescent’s prevention model, empowering local practitioners to create awareness, promote healthy lifestyles, and strengthen community-based approaches in addiction prevention.
