Nigeria is a country located in West Africa and is the most populous nation on the African continent. It is bordered by Benin, Niger, Chad, and Cameroon, with a coastline along the Atlantic Ocean. The capital city is Abuja, while Lagos is the largest city and main economic hub. Nigeria gained independence in 1960 and is a member of the United Nations and the African Union. The country has a federal system of government and a highly diverse population with hundreds of ethnic groups and languages. Nigeria’s economy is one of the largest in Africa, driven by sectors such as oil and gas, agriculture, trade, and services, and it plays an active role in regional and international cooperation.
West Africa is a region in the western part of the African continent, known for its cultural diversity, growing economies, and active role in regional cooperation and development.
Green Crescent Health Development Initiative is a civil society organization based in Nigeria. The organization signed its Goodwill Agreement in 2016 and completed its official establishment in the same year. It has been a member of the Union of NGOs of the Islamic World (IFGC) since 2018 and was elected to the IFGC High Advisory Council in 2025. The organization is chaired by Dr. Mohammad Alhaji Audi Kongila. Representatives of Nigeria Green Crescent participated in the 7th Capacity Development Program. In 2025, the organization convened an event titled “Transformation in Addiction Prevention: A Global Mentorship Model” during the 68th Session of the Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND), focusing on the prevention of drug, alcohol, and other forms of addiction.
