Sudan (officially the Republic of the Sudan) is a country located in Northeast Africa, bordered by Egypt, Libya, Chad, the Central African Republic, South Sudan, Ethiopia, and Eritrea, with a coastline along the Red Sea. Its capital city is Khartoum. Sudan gained independence in 1956 and is a member of the United Nations and the African Union. The country has a rich historical heritage shaped by ancient Nubian civilizations and Islamic culture, and its economy is based primarily on agriculture, livestock, and natural resources, while engaging with regional and international institutions to support development and cooperation.
East Africa is a region of Africa known for its geographic diversity, cultural heritage, and growing role in regional integration, trade, and development.
Sudanese Green Crescent Society is a civil society organization based in Sudan, with its headquarters located at Khartoum, Almamora Block 72, House 202. The organization signed its Goodwill Agreement in 2015 and completed its official establishment in 2018. It has been a member of the Union of NGOs of the Islamic World (IFGC) since 2018. The organization is chaired by Abdaila Mohamed Ahmed.In 2025, Sudanese Green Crescent Society planned to organize an event at the 68th Session of the Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND) titled “Building Inclusive and Long-Term Policies for Crisis-Affected Regions and Migration,” with the support of Ghent University Institute for Social Drug Research (ISD), Conectados Pela Vida, Turkish Green Crescent Society (TGCS), the International Organization for Migration (IOM), and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC).
