Serbia (officially the Republic of Serbia) is a landlocked country located in Southeast Europe, in the central part of the Balkan Peninsula. Its capital city is Belgrade. Serbia became a member of the United Nations in 2000 and is an active participant in regional and international cooperation frameworks. The country has a parliamentary republic system and a rich historical and cultural heritage shaped by its role at the crossroads of Central and Southeast Europe. Serbia’s economy is diversified, with key sectors including manufacturing, agriculture, services, and trade, and it continues to engage with European and global institutions to support development and stability.
Central and Eastern Europe is a region of the European continent known for its historical depth, cultural diversity, and strategic position between Western Europe and Eurasia. It has experienced significant political and social transformation and continues to play an important role in regional and international affairs.
Zeleni krst – Zeleni polumsejec is a civil society organization based in Serbia, with its headquarters located at 28 Novembra Street No. 45/3, 36300, Novi Pazar, Serbia. The organization signed its Goodwill Agreement in 2017 and completed its official establishment in 2016. It has been a member of the Union of NGOs of the Islamic World (IFGC) since 2017, serves on the IFGC High Advisory Council, and was elected to the UYEF Board of Directors in 2025.The organization is chaired by Dr. Jasmin Latovic. Since 2022, Zeleni krst – Zeleni polumsejec has held ECOSOC Special Consultative Status. In 2024, the organization hosted a side event at the 67th Session of the Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND) titled “The Growing Use of Social Media in Online Drug Buying and Selling,” focusing on emerging challenges related to drug addiction and online drug markets.
