Substance Addiction and Recovery Webinar

The first webinar of 2025, "Substance Addiction and Recovery - Practical Approaches from YEDAM," will be held on February 20, 2025, from 12:00 to 13:00 (GMT +3) for Country Green Crescent representatives During this session: o   The psychological and social effects of addiction, risk factors, early intervention methods, and recovery processes will be discussed. o   YEDAM's free counseling services in alcohol, substance, gambling, tobacco, and İnternet addiction will be introduced. o   Comprehensive solutions such as psycho-social support, family therapy, case analysis, and life skills training will be explained in detail. o   Findings from case studies and best practices from the field will be shared. Starting this year, IFGC aim to hold more interactive sessions to increase engagement. Country Green Crescent representatives are welcome to share their thoughts, questions, and best practices before the webinar.

The Turkish Green Crescent Society’s Volunteer Management Model Shared with Country Green Crescents for International Volunteer Day

The Volunteer Management Model and University Youth Green Crescent Club Management webinar took place online on December 3, 2024, from 12:00 to 13:00 (Gmt +3). The event was jointly organized by the International Federation of Green Crescent and the Volunteer Management Department of the Turkish Green Crescent Society. In preparation for International Volunteer Day on December 5, the webinar offered a comprehensive introduction to the Turkish Green Crescent Society’s volunteer management model. It emphasized key volunteer objectives, shared activity statistics, and highlighted practical examples. Additionally, the session addressed the setup and management of Youth Green Crescent clubs across Turkey, explored factors contributing to their achievements, and discussed approaches to enhance youth participation. The webinar supported the International Federation of Green Crescent’s commitment to advancing public health and encouraging voluntary initiatives in this area. It emphasized the importance of fostering volunteerism and building a sustainable volunteer culture at both individual and community levels within Country Green Crescents.

YOUTH ADVOCACY FORUM

The Youth Advocacy Forum was established as a platform where global policies are discussed and local and international advocacy agendas are developed and offer important opportunities for the youth across the World to take joint action against addictions every year.

Youth Advocacy Forum

Since 2020, the project aims to bring together young people from different languages, religions, cultures, and nationalities around the world to prevent addictions, promote healthy living, and develop advocacy skills.

47 Countries

The third forum, held in 2022, had participants from a total of 47 countries.

Over 200 young people

More than 200 young people participated as panelists and observers

Powerful organizations such as the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Istanbul Initiative support the forum organized by the Turkish Green Crescent Society.

Youth Advocacy Forum 2024; A Glimpse

Within the scope of our global youth project, the Youth Advocacy Forum brought together young people from different cultures, religions, languages, and nationalities from around the world in 2024, marking the fifth forum held. Participants came from six regions: the African Region, the Region of the Americas, the South-East Asia Region, the European Region, the Eastern Mediterranean Region, and the Western Pacific Region. Young people aged 18 to 30 gathered to improve their advocacy skills in preventing addictions and promoting healthy lifestyles.

The forum took place online on 21 August 2024 with the main theme of “Electronic Cigarettes and Vaping Products: An Overlooked Pandemic?” In the forum, where the global policies were discussed and local as well as international agendas of advocacy were improved, international experts in their field and powerful organizations such as the Lung Foundation, Netherlands and Smoke Free Partnership participated.
